La Grande Odalisque is classic Shag with a slightly risque twist, the 60s-styled girl, the tiki and the mid-century furnishings all present and correct. In terms of specifics, this is a 15-colour serigraph, signed and numbered in an edition of 200 and sized at 14 x 20 inches.(Extract from https://www.retrotogo.com/2009/07/shags-latest-print-la-grande-odalisque.html). Josh Agle is an American artist, better known by the nickname Shag. He is a painter, illustrator and designer and is the master of sharp, swinging lounge aesthetic that embraces illustrative finesse, flat perspective, and the type of subtle humour that has become synonymous with Shag's work. It is a celebration of consumerism through characters who smoke, drink and socialise in fantasy settings. His works are visually influenced by avant-garde animation of the early fifties and sixties, as well as generic advertising art of the same era – such as sci-fi pulp art and sixties clip art.(Extracts from https://www.outregallery.com)
